Read the excerpt from "The Most Dangerous Game." Bleak darkness was blacking out the sea and jungle when Rainsford sighted the l

ights. He came upon them as he turned a crook in the coast line, and his first thought was that he had come upon a village, for there were many lights. But as he forged along he saw to his great astonishment that all the lights were in one enormous building—a lofty structure with pointed towers plunging upward into the gloom. His eyes made out the shadowy outlines of a palatial chateau; it was set on a high bluff, and on three sides of it cliffs dived down to where the sea licked greedy lips in the shadows. "Mirage," thought Rainsford. But it was no mirage, he found, when he opened the tall spiked iron gate. The stone steps were real enough; the massive door with a leering gargoyle for a knocker was real enough; yet above it all hung an air of unreality. Which literary elements are used in this excerpt? Check all that apply. characterization mood conflict irony imagery foreshadowing

Window is closer than it appears.

“Than” can be used as a conjunction or as a preposition. But when “than” occurs with a pronoun in the objective case, it’s a preposition: He’s taller than me. It’s also a preposition when numbers/amounts are compared: It takes less than an hour.

What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages<br> watching plays in theater?
Len [333]

Answer:

here

Explanation:

Live drama is an interaction with actual human beings. It’s an ancient ritual, thousands of years old, a group of humans coming together to enact a story. A great deal is expected of audiences to imagine the context. An audience member is an active participant.

A film is a private communication from director to audience member. A few movies give the sense of a communal activity, but those are rare. Little is required of an audience member to supply the context because it’s all been created in the visual and musical world. An audience member is a passive recipient.

Read the fifth stanza from “The Raven.”
mart [117]

Answer:

D.

Explanation:

As often with the works of Edgar Allen Poe, insanity is to be expected. When Poe describes a dark and morbid setting it makes you the reader feel alone and scared. Crying out to the dead as if they were still there is often telling the reader something is going to happen to the main character and it involves the person. This is called foreshadowing, and this specifically shows a clear descend into madness.
