Ethnic tensions in Central and Eastern Europe were caused by the tendency of different groups to have their own nation-states.

During the XIX and early XX centuries, nationalism was a key feature of the European ideological landscape. According to that ideology, every nation (defined as a group of people that shared a common language, history, customs, etc) had to have their own political organizations in the form of nation-states. Nationalism was one of the main reasons behind the start of WWI, which happened in The Balkans, after a Serbian Nationalist killed the heir to the Austro-Hungarian crown. The assassination was motivated by the desire of Serbian nationalists to separate from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and form their own State.

The most serious problem faced by settlers in Virginia when they first arrived was a lack of food, since the land was difficult to farm and the Natives could be hostile. Although they soon grew enough tobacco to be able to trade efficiently.

What was the significance of the Iroquois Confederacy?
valentina_108 [34]

Might Be This One:

The Iroquois Confederacy were six tribes who lived, fought, ate, built, and worked together to better their lives. They created laws and government. Some of their ideas worked so well they helped our country create its first democratic government and constitution.

Most likely this one:

The Peacemaker established clans within the nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. The clan system united the nations and ensured peace among them. They are still an important part of the identity of Iroquois people today. They were an influence on the Founders of America.
