The purpose of sentences 3 through 6 is C:To provide supporting details. The paragraph is about the family cottage at a small, private lake. Therefore, the writer needs to add details that support the fact that this house actually exists. In order to do this, he uses the characterization of the house as supporting details that confirm the existence of the house. When reading sentences 3 through, different traits of the house are described.
