ANSWER:

The sale price of a new compact disc player is $212 at a local discount store. Kyle bought 6 CDs.

SOLUTION:

Given, the sale price of a new compact disc player is $212 at a local discount store.

At the store where this sale is going on, each new CD is on sale for $12 each.

Kyle purchases a player and some CDs for $284.

Let the number of CD be x.

Total amount = amount for CD palyer + amount for CDs.

284 = 212 + number of CDs x amount of one CD.

284 = 212 + x ⅹ 12

12x = 284 – 212

12x = 72 = 6

Hence, Kyle bought 6 CDs.

If [x] denotes the least integer greater than or equal to x and [x/2] = 0, which of the following could be the value of x?A. -2B
podryga [215]

Answer:

B) -3/2

Step-by-step explanation:

If [x/2]=0 then x/2 is a number such that the least integer greater than or equal to x/2 is 0. We can rewrite this as the inequality x/2≤0. Then, the value of x in C, D and E is wrong because they are positive numbers, then x/2 would be a positive number which contradicts this inequality.

Now, 0 is the least integer that satisfies this inequality, therefore we cannot have that x/2≤-1 since -1 is an integer and -1<0. Then x/2>-1. This discards A as wrong, because for x=-2, x/2=-1, contrary to x/2>-1.

Thus B is the right answer. To verify, if x=-3/2, then x/2=-3/4 and we have that -1<-3/4≤0 as required.

Need help on answering number 13.
Genrish500 [490]
You can find the value of y when you substitute the x value into the equation.

Since x = 3, the equation becomes:
y = 3 + 5

The answer to question 13 is y = 8

What is the perimeter of parallelogram HIJK? Round to the nearest hundredth.
bixtya [17]

Answer:

Perimeter of the parallelogram = 26.64 units

Step-by-step explanation:

The perimeter of parallelogram = 2(a + b)

Here a = KJ = 7 units.

b = HK

We need to find the HK using the distance formula.

Distance formula = \sqrt{(x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2}

H = (-4, 3) and k = (-2, -3)

Now plug in x1 = -4, y1 =3, x2 = -2, y2 = -3 in the distance formula

HK = \sqrt{(-2 -(-4))^2 + (-3 - 3)^2}

= \sqrt{(-2 +4)^2 + (-6)^2}

= \sqrt{4 + 36}

= \sqrt{40}

HK = b = 6.32 units

Now plug in a = 7 and b = 6.32 in the perimeter formula, we get

Perimeter = 2(7 + 6.32)

= 2(13.32)

= 26.64 units

Thank you.
