they are similar because you can add them, and you are able to count money and you can count apples.

they are different because you can't add them together. (ex. 1 apple + 1 dollar = 1 apple and 1 dollar)

If an apple costs $2 dollars and you want two of them... 1 apple ($2) + 1 apple ($2) = 2 apples ($6).. they are both separate numbers but can be counted, but not together.
