The American Enlightenment was a philosophical movement that started in the 1700s and ended in the early 1800s.

During this period there were very famous personalities like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, but one name stands in the world of literature like Thomas Paine, no other pamphlet writer was more famous than Thomas Paine, his Common Sense swept the nation into a fury against British rule.

Thomas Paine was born on February 9, 1737 and died on June 8, 1809. He was an English-born American political activist, philosopher, political theorist and revolutionary. One of the Founding Fathers of the United States, he authored the two most influential pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution and inspired the patriots in 1776 to declare independence from Britain.

The life style of the first English settlers of America was with no doubt: Harsh. It was a very difficult situation, fleeing England from Religious prosecution an arriving to an unknown land with nothing more than their clothes, the wood from the ships and some tools, arms and provisions to live. The had to prevail against all the odds in a strange environment. And after suffering all kinds of penance, they had also to withstand the tyranny of the British Empire.

The phrase from the excerpt that best reflects the excerpt's passionate tone is "enforce her tyranny."
Tyranny is a harsh word, and definitely shows strong emotions, whereas the other options are pretty bland and show no emotion.

Capulet: Good faith! ’tis day: The county will be here with music straight, For so he said he would. [Music within.] I hear him
Ierofanga [76]

Answer: the nurse will be unable to rouse Juliet.

In this scene, we see that Capulet is discussing the final details for the wedding between Juliet and Paris. However, we also know that Juliet is planning to escape with Romeo, and for that purpose, she has taken a potion that will make her appear dead. The nurse will be unable to wake her up. This is an example of dramatic irony because the reader knows something that the characters do not know, and this makes their reality different from what they expect.

What figurative language is this? ..—> Lee always get 100% on his test ;he knows absolutely everything there is to know about
Oksana_A [137]

The figurative language used in this expression is IDIOM, commonly used to refer to a person who knows very much about everything. In this case it refers to a very good student that gets the better grades in his exams. Anyway, idioms are expressions that usually cannot be explained word by word, they have to be taken as a whole.
