Answer:

What can a drop of liquid mercury be described as?

a) a pure substance and a compound

b) an impure substance that is reactive

c) an impure substance that is unreactive

d) a pure substance and an element

Explanation:

Pure substances are those where there is only one type of atom or molecule present, and have a constant composition (has the same composition of elements by mass).

Generally, in a single drop of mercury there are no impurities, therefore  the sample will have only one type of atom present, as mercury is an element (it only contains one type of atom), making it a pure substance and an element.

Answer: The name of the biome is Tundra.

Explanation:

Tundra is the coldest of all the biomes. Tundra comes from the Finnish word tunturi, meaning treeless plain. It is noted for its frost-molded landscapes, extremely low temperatures, little precipitation, poor nutrients, and short growing seasons. Dead organic material functions as a nutrient pool. The two major nutrients are nitrogen and phosphorus. Nitrogen is created by biological fixation, and phosphorus is created by precipitation.

Characteristics of tundra include:

Extremely cold climate

Low biotic diversity

Simple vegetation structure

Limitation of drainage

Short season of growth and reproduction

Energy and nutrients in the form of dead organic material

Large population oscillations.

Definition of Term:

Biome -

What is a biome? Biomes are very large ecological areas on the earth's surface, with fauna and flora (animals and plants) adapting to their environment. Biomes are often defined by abiotic factors such as temperature, climate, relief, geology, soils and vegetation.

Why might some civilizations not have been part of the Neolithic Revolution?
butalik [34]
I’d say C.

A doesn’t make sense, they definitely could’ve domesticated animals in that time.

B doesn’t make sense either, they could’ve easily seen smoke signals, the sky wasn’t filled with them often.

C is just a weird answer. I doubt they were “passive observers” but probably the best answer to the question.

D doesn’t add up because they definitely needed agriculture/food surpluses. They were always hunting, they obviously ran out of food rather quickly.

So C is the answer.
