Answer:

Interference between S wave and P wave results in Rolling waves.

Explanation:

Seismic waves are energy rich waves that are formed due to rock breakage within earth surface or an explosion.

Types of Seismic Waves

Based on the movement and occurrence of seismic waves they are divided into two main types, body waves and surface waves. Body waves are produced and travel to inner surface of earth, while surface waves can only move along the surface of the earth. Body waves are further divided into Primary wave (P wave) and Secondary wave (S wave). P wave is fastest and arrives first at the earthquake site. While S wave is slower and can be felt as the aftereffects. P waves are longitudinal and S waves are transverse. Combination of these two waves results in Rolling waves.

Answer:

The correct answer is "Rayleigh waves".

Explanation:

Rayleigh waves travel through the surface of solid materials and are widely use for detecting defective materials. At a seismic level, this type of waves are produced by the interaction and interference between S waves and P waves. Rayleigh waves travel at a slower velocity that these two types of seismic waves, however they can cause damage during earthquakes, particularly, when its horizontal component impacts.
