Read the sample student claim. If university education was made free for everyone, I would be thrilled because more people would

go to college and pursue successful careers. Why is this not an effective claim? Check all that apply. It is a topic with two or more viewpoints. It does not contain the writer’s opinion. It is simply a personal preference or feeling. It does not present supporting evidence. It cannot be supported with logical reasons.

Answer:

It is simply a personal preference or feeling.

Explanation:

Remeber that a claim is a statement that is used as a primary point to support or prove an argument. It tries to state a truth which of course is arguable, that means its content can be proven wrong. In academic writing, the claims are the specific arguments that make the thesis, therefore they need to be complex, debatable, supported by research, and focused on the facts. This means opinions are not allowed.

In this case, the student is only giving his opinion, he shows himself "thrilled". As you can see this can't be argued as it it his personal point of view, and of course this is not based on any research or fact.

It is simply a personal preference or feeling and It cannot be supported with logical reasons.

It is a personal claim based on what the writer prefers, as it is expressed in "<em>I would be thrilled</em>". Also, there is no logical reasoning behind this argument; it merely expresses the writer's individual perception,

Answer:
