To simplify, or add like terms for 6m+6+1m^2+5m-1 to would follow these steps:

First, you find like terms, for example 6m and 5m. You would add these two and get 11m

6m + 5m = 11m

You do the same for the constants:
6 - 1 = 5

Since there are no like terms for 1m^2, you leave it be. You now have simplified your equation:

1m^2 + 11m + 5
