Before we go any further, we need to understand the two types of reproduction that occur in living organisms. First is asexual reproduction, or reproduction without sex (a means without). In asexual reproduction, the offspring are genetically identical to the parent. There are many modes of asexual reproduction: budding (a new individual splits off from the parent), fission (the parent splits into two or more individuals), and fragmentation (a piece of the parent breaks off into several pieces and regenerates).

Explain how the work of the following folks contributed to the development of the Theory of Natural Selection
EleoNora [17]

Thomas Malthus was economist who proposed that human populations grow faster than the resources they depend on which becomes limiting factor for them, causing the increase of populations but also increase of famine and diseases. As a consequence, the weakest members die. Darwin linked this with the “survival of the fittest" (naturals elections favors the best suited for reproduction and survival).

Georges Cuvier was anti-evolutionist and religious man, but he did have influence on Darwin theory of evolution (natural selection). He was against linear system of classification so, his believes that there is more than one lineage for species helped Darwin shaped his theory.

Charles Lyell geologists who believed that geologic processes that were at the beginning of time were the same ones that were happening at the current time (processes work the same way through time). He explained that slow changes built up over time, so Darwin linked that with the way that life on Earth changes. (small adaptations that accumulated over long periods of time change a species).

If an animal cell is placed in plain water, It will swell and burst. The bursting of the cell is a result of which biological pr
densk [106]

Answer:

Osmosis is the process of having water pass from a low concentration medium to a high concentration one, given that the barrier (membrane) is semi-permeable.

Explanation

Cells encounter osmosis due to their semi-permeable membranes. Water can flow past cell membranes. A given cell placed into distilled water will have some water flow into it, causing it to burst. A given cell placed in a very concentrated water will have some water flow out of it, causing it to shrivel. A given cell placed in a solution with the same concentration of minerals as the cell will have an equilibrium of water flowing in and out. This is the case of IV (Intravenous therapy) when we want to deliver substances into a human blood. We want to make sure the liquid delivered is as concentrated as the blood to avoid cell shriveling or bursting.

This picture above sums up the 3 cases cells could face in a solution.

Good luck!

What is the anatomy of a flower provide a brief explanation of the structures involved in pollination and fertilization?
ella [17]
A flower has the following:
Petals - segments of the flower
Sepal - outer parts of the flower at the bottom covered in bud
Stamen - produces pollen in the flower
Anther - where pollen is produced
Pistil - produces ovary of the flower
Stigma - where pollen germinates

Pollination occurs when insects like bees and butterflies transfers the pollen from one flower to another. Once transferred, fertilization begins.
