Post-civil war, left a war torn regions, especially in the Southern region, that was lacking behind economically when compared to the rest of the country thus became necessary to encourage a more rapid development of solely agricultural lands.

Increase in business and business demands, industrialization led to improved production methods led to better quality and higher demands. Raw materials such as timber, coal and iron ore were greatly exploited to absorb production demands.  According to studies between 1870 and 1916, goods produced during this period increase tenfold. This period saw the introduction of products such as barbed wires, typewriters, the phonograph and engine cars.

Population demands.The increase in industrial production attracted a huge influx of people from the country farmland areas into the busy commercial centres. People came in search of the jobs being offered.  This helped to maintain production levels.
