Answer:The Fordney-McCumber Act of 1922 was a law that raised the American taxes on imported goods in order to protect the national factories and farms. However, the result of this measure was that high tariffs discouraged international trade. After five years of implementation, America’s trading partners, such as France and Germany, raised considerably their taxes on imported American goods, which represented a lower income of American goods in the European market. This resulted in agricultural depression and the increase in the cost of living in many cities of the US.

PLEASE HELP ME- WILL GIVE 16 POINTS AND BRAINLIEST ANSWER
DochEvi [55]

The correct answer is:

C. To appeal to the dissatisfied, multi-ethnic population of the Soviet Union.

Gorbachev was not trying "to establish his dominance," as the other answer here had suggested. When Gorbachev came into leadership in the USSR, the Soviet economy was struggling and there were dissidents across the spectrum of the country who called out for reforms and changes.

In 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev proposed policies of perestroika (restructuring) and glasnost (openness) in the Soviet Union. Perestroika meant allowing some measure of private enterprise in the Soviet Union. Glasnost meant allowing a bit of freedom in regard to speech and publication.
