Some 3,000 athletes (with more than 100 women among them) from 44 nations competed that year, and for the first time, the Games featured a closing ceremony" (history.com) explains how the Olympics became an international event with participants from across the globe. American pop culture spread throughout the globe and was accepted in many countries, even with the imposing threat of the Cold War.

TV shows and Internet series of on-demand digital companies have influenced the behavior and customs of other parts of the world.
