<span>The social criticism in Upton Sinclair's The Jungle was a response to the working conditions faced by immigrants.
Immigrants often have a difficult time getting accustomed to their new country and its culture, and the jobs are no different. Usually, the conditions they have to work under are quite difficult, which Sinclair is trying to convey in his work.

Which statement best describes U.S. foreign policy during the Monroe administration? A. The United States sought to establish co
crimeas [40]

Answer:

The answer is: C, The United States sought to expand its borders into Spanish territories.

Explanation:

The Monroe Administration flourished under James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States. Under his administration, he strengthened the <em>"American Foreign Policy</em>" by establishing the "Monroe Doctrine." This doctrine prevented the Europeans from expanding their territories towards the Western Hemisphere as well as South America (and other parts of the USA). The reason behind this was that <em>the USA wanted to expand its borders into Spanish territories. </em>The doctrine then strengthened the relationship between the <u>USA and South and Central America.</u>

As a result, the USA used the doctrine as an opportunity to venture into Latin America.

Thus, this explains the answer.

Masteriza [31]

In the 1780's and 1790's The United States and Britain had just fought in a war against each other. The United States and Britain went to war over the American people wanting freedom from British rule and taxation. The Americas won the war leading to large American debt and strained relations with Great Britain who embargoed American made goods.

The Era of Good Feelings, which occurred from about 1815 until about 1825, was a time period in which nationalism (or extreme pride in one's country) were at a high after America won the War of 1812. After the War of 1812, many British citizen wanted to reopen trade between Great Britain and America. There were no territorial losses between either countries and both sides were open to becoming close allies. This was made possible after the Treaty of Ghent, Rush-Bagot Treaty, The Treaty of 1818, The Webster-Ashburton Treaty, The return of Massachusetts, and the Oregon Treaty. These agreements documented the positive energy and the willingness to compromise and remain allies of both major nations.
