I hoped the lake would be Placid (In other words Relaxed) for our trip, but the water was too Rough for us to ski.


If the person hoped that the lake was Placid but instead in was Rough, The word Placid would be calm or in other words Relaxed.


Based on the Context Clue, Placid means Relaxed
