Nations form alliances in order to achieve goals that otherwise wouldn't be possible. For example, NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a coalition of countries in North America and Europe, agree to defend one another in case of attack from an outside party. This is clearly beneficial, because this intergovernmental support both makes an outside attack less probable, and if it occurs, easier to handle. Another example is NAFTA, or the North American Free Trade Agreement. Shared among Canada, the US, and Mexico, this alliance eradicated trade barriers within these countries. Another beneficial alliance, this agreement increases international trade due to lower costs and thus improves the international economy.

ElenaW [278]
I would make a new life for myself because if I moved somewhere new, why would I leave again, if it has things I don't like there like or is terrible at life protection than I would leave, but if it has good than I would stay and live there.

What were affirmative action programs originally designed to encourage? increasing diversity in public institutions and business
Mrac [35]

increasing diversity in public institutions and businesses

Affirmative Action programs set to bring more minorities into business and schools to better represent the overall US demographic and to deter discrimination that had taken place in hiring and admission processes.

Affirmative Action programs apply to ethnic, racial, and gender minorities. The goal of the program is to provide quota systems to participating public and private institutions and businesses. These quotas are meant to ensure minorities are being hired when they apply for positions they are qualified for and to better match the demographics found in the US.
