Answer:<u> -0.9 ; inelastic</u>

Explanation:

Given:

The average price of wheat per metric ton in 2012 = $305.75

Demand (in millions of metric tons) in 2012 = 672

The average price of wheat per metric ton in 2013 =  $291.56

Demand (in millions of metric tons) in 2013 = 700

We will compute the elasticity using the following formula:

ε = \frac{\frac{(Q_{2} - Q_{1})}{\frac{(Q_{2} +Q_{1})}{2}}}{\frac{(P_{2} - P_{1})}{\frac{(P_{2} +P_{1})}{2}}}

ε = \frac{\Delta Q}{\Delta P}

Now , we'll first compute  \Delta Q

i.e.  \frac{\Delta Q}{\Delta P} = \frac{(700 - 672)}{\frac{(700 +672)}{2}}

\Delta Q = 0.04081

Similarly for  \Delta P

i.e. \Delta P = \frac{(291.56 - 305.75)}{\frac{(261.56 +305.75)}{2}}

\Delta P = -0.0475

ε = \frac{0.04081}{-0.0475}

ε = -0.859 \simeq -0.9

\because we know that ;

If, ε > 1 ⇒ Elastic

ε < 1 ⇒ Inelastic

ε = 1 ⇒ unit elastic

<u><em>\because Here , ε = -0.859 \simeq -0.9 </em></u>

<u><em>Therefore ε is inelastic.</em></u>

What two numbers have a sum of 217 and a difference of 85?
KiRa [710]
We can use the system of equations:x + y = 217x - y = 85-----------------From the 2nd equation:  y = x - 85x + x - 85 = 2172 x = 217 + 852 x = 302x = 302 : 2x = 151y = 217 - 151y = 66We can prove this solution:151 + 66 = 2017   and  151 - 66 = 85.Answer: those numbers are 151 and 66.

Can you help me with the 1,3,5 I am confused
blondinia [14]
1. 1 of 5 sectors is white; 1 of 3 sectors is A. P(white, A) = (1/5)*(1/3) = 1/15

3. 2 of 5 sectors are striped; 1 of 3 sectors is A. P(striped, A) = (2/5)*(1/3) = 2/15

5. 3 of 5 sectors are not striped; 1 of 3 sectors is A. P(not striped, A) = (3/5)*(1/3) = 1/5.

Order the following set of rational numbers from least to greatest, and explain how you determined their order.
Zinaida [17]
To make this easy, turn these all into a common format: I will use mixed fractions.
You will have 0\frac{0}{30} , -0 \frac{15}{30}  ,  1\frac{0}{30} -3 \frac{10}{30} , 6 \frac{0}{30} , 5  \frac{0}{30} , -1  \frac{0}{30} , 4 \frac{6}{30} , and  4 \frac{0}{30}
From there, the numbers go -3 10/30 , -1 0/30 , -0 15/30 , 0 , 1 , 4 , 4 6/30 , 5 , 6
