The primary succession takes a long time to be done. the secondary succesion takes 200-500 years for completion. the secondary succession occurs in an area which has been denuded recently and lately inhabited. soil is present at the beginning of the secondary succession with some organisms. thank you for this question.

While plant cells have chloroplasts to photosynthesize, they also require ATP for cellular functions, and do use oxygen to break down some of the sugar they produce in order to generate that ATP. They need mitochondria for this.
In particular, at night when there is no light, plants undergo cellular respiration since there is no sunlight to photosynthesize.
They do, however, produce far more sugar and oxygen through photosynthesis than they use up in respiration.

Light energy is initially converted into chemical energy in he form of two compounds: NADPH, a source of energized electrons and ATP, the versatile energy currency that the light reactions produce no sugar, that happens in the second stage of photosynthesis, the Calvin cycle.
