Juvencio's crime was that he had murdered Don Lupe Terreros and for that he was put behind the bars.

The judge did not accept Juvencio's bribe because he was wrong to let him go. Juvencio's wife left but he did not do anything because he thought they would catch him if he went behind her. His son Justin does not help him because he is afraid that people will know that Juvencio is his father.
