He felt the land belonged to all Indians and therefore could not be sold unless all agreed.

He was a Native American Shawnee warrior and chief at the time that American expanisionism into native Indian territorries was aggressive. As the first Indian diplomat he believed that all Indians should join together inorder to protect their lands.
