How did the Second Great Awakening contribute to westward expansion?
aniked [119]

Answer:

Correct Answer:

4) Americans believed they had a religious purpose to spread over the entire continent.

Explanation:

The Second Great Awakening was a Protestant religious revival during the early 19th century which spread throughout the United States. The revival began in early 1800's among the Presbyterians, Methodists and Baptists. This brought comfort in the face of uncertainty as a result of the socio-political changes in America.

Also, New religious movements emerged during the Second Great Awakening, such as Adventism, Dispensationalism, and the Latter Day Saint movement which spread from America to other parts of the world.

How and why did the federal Government attempt to regulate interstate commerce in the late nineteenth century
Lady_Fox [76]
Public pressure- states tried to regulate RR & trusts and SC ruled unconstitutional
Sherman Antitrust Act 1890- attempt by congress to appease country; had little impact
McKinley Tariff 1890- highest protective tariff every; didn’t really prevent monopolies and angered public
Interstate Commerce Act-1887-banned discrimination in rates between long and short hauls, required that RR publish their rate schedules and file them with the gov’t
Due to pressure by the American people to regulate corrupt businesses and monopolies congress passed several acts that limited particular industries, however these acts had little practical effect.
