                The country experienced a civil war.

Explanation: After rejecting communism and calling for multiparty elections in the then Yugoslav republics, nationalist parties came to power in all the republics, which is explained by the decades-long rule of communism. All peoples were saturated with communism and wanted nationally recognizable governments. This soon prompted the breakup of communist Yugoslavia when some of the republics proclaimed independence and seceded from Yugoslavia, creating so independent sovereign states. This again led to ethnic conflicts, where there was a multi-ethnic life, and there was a civil war on the territory of Croatia and Bosnia.

Gloria Steinem co-created Ms. magazine which highlighted women's issues from birth control, abortion, education, careers, and abuse. She was a spokesperson for the women's movement and worked to introduced and advance the Equal Rights Amendment.

Shirley Chisholm--was the first black woman in Congress and the first woman to seek a presidential nomination. She used her political position to advance laws for gender and racial equality.
