Once women were granted their right to vote, there was still much to do. The women's movement now focused on participation in US politics and the social life of America. By 1929, there were just nine women that had been elected to the House of Representatives, but there was none in the United States Senate.

Besides politics, women wanted more participation in the corporate world, dominated by men. Their demands for reformation included labor, benefits, and more civil rights to be equal to men. Women did not receive equal pay in the workplace, and that was also one of their demands.
