Nativism, term used to refer the policy of promoting the interests of native inhabitants against those of immigrants, and the called quota laws in 1920s were caused mostly by the uncertainty generated over national security during World War I, which made it possible for Congress to pass the first widely restrictive immigration law in 1917 that included several important provisions that paved the way for the 1924 Act.

The 1917 Act implemented a literacy test that required immigrants over 16 years old to demonstrate basic reading comprehension in any language. However, the literacy test described above was considered not enough to prevent most potential immigrants from entering, therefore members of Congress sought a new way to restrict immigration in the 1920s. In this sense, immigration expert and Republican Senator William P. Dillingham introduced a measure to create immigration quotas. He set the percent of the total population of the foreign-born of each nationality in the United States basing on in the 1910 census.

In this way, it was limited the number of immigrants allowed to entry into the United States through a national origins quota. This put the total number of visas available each year to new immigrants at 350,000, excluding completely immigrants from Asia.

In your opinion, was there any way for the colonies to make up with Great Britain? Could the Revolution have been avoided or was
ozzi
In my opinion there is no way for the colonies to make up with Great Britain noir was there any way to avoid the revolutionary war. If it had not been for the revolutionary war we would not have the independence that we do today. Although the British didn’t wrongfully tax us, they taxed us too much. Not only did they tax us during the stamp act of 1773 but they also taxed us during the coersive acts as well. Although the stamp act lowered the taxation from sixpence to three, technically it was more because we never had to pay taxes in the first place. The Coercive Acts pushed the colonists to rebel further. The acts restricted the colonists more than they were already. They were restricted from using the Boston Harbor until the city paid for the tea that they threw over the boat. Because the harbor was closed, there could be no trading. Having no trade hurt the Bostonians and their trade business. None of their imports could come in, and none of their exports could go out. So all in all the revolutionary war was inevitable and could not be avoided. (Hopefully that works u might wanna spiff it up a bit)

Help Plzz!!How do you think the framers of the Constitution would respond to the presidency's expanded powers?
slava [35]

The framers of the constitution intended that the Congress would play a major part in the American democracy. They left the president’s power without many boundaries, counting on check and balances as a power to hold the presidency. The framers of the constitution didn’t want the president to be a slave of the Congress, this is the reason probably the framers would be in favor of the presidency’s expanded powers, they wanted a balance between a free man who is stronger than governors but not as free as a monarch.
