The answer is 7/12. First of all you need to change them to like units. 1/2 is going to be 6/12. Now you can compare 7/12 and 1/2 easier.

\frac{7}{12} and  \frac{1}{2}  \\   \frac{1}{2}  * 6 \\  \frac{1*6}{2*6}  \\  \frac{6}{12} and  \frac{7}{12}  \\  \frac{6}{12} \ \textless \   \frac{7}{12}   \\  \frac{1}{2} \ \textless \   \frac{7}{12}
7/12 is greater than 1/2.

Hope this helps!

The cylinder shown has a lateral surface area of about 80 square inches. Which answer is closest to the height of the cylinder?
Radda [10]

Hello!

The cylinder shown has a lateral surface area of about 80 square inches. Which answer is closest to the height of the cylinder? Use 3.14 to approximate pi.

We have the following data:

Al (lateral surface area) = 80 in²

R (ratio) = 4 in

h (height) = ? (in inches)

Adopt : π ≈ 3.14

We apply the data to the formula, we have:

A_l = 2*\pi*R*h

80 = 2*3.14*4*h

80 = 25.12\:h

25.12\:h = 80

h = \dfrac{80}{25.12}

h = 3.18 \to \boxed{\boxed{h \approx 3.2\:in}}\:\:\:\:\:\:\bf\green{\checkmark}

Answer:

≈ 3.2 inches

What are skew lines and parallel lines
Leni [432]

Two or more lines are parallel when they lie in the same plane and never intersect. The symbol for parallel is <span>||</span>. To mark lines parallel, draw arrows <span>(>)</span> on each parallel line. If there are more than one pair of parallel lines, use two arrows <span>(<span>>></span>)</span> for the second pair. The two lines below would be labeled <span><span><span>AB</span><span>←→</span></span> || <span><span>MN</span><span>←→−</span></span></span> or <span>l || m</span>.

For a line and a point not on the line, there is exactly one line parallel to this line through the point. There are infinitely many lines that pass through A, but only one is parallel to l.
