The normal programming of the radio was being interrupted gradually by the news of the fall of a meteor and the arrival of ships to the USA. The program was made with all the characteristics of radiojournalism: on the street, interviews with witnesses, opinion of experts and authorities. Welles, for example, played an astronomer. All this gave the impression that the facts were real and live. To pass even more realism, they invested in soundproofing: the sound of the ships was made with the discharge of the bathroom.The newspapers of the day reported that CBS would broadcast a play and, at the beginning of the broadcast, it was announced that it was a radio show.
