All of these could help, but I wouldn't think that is the most logical answer. And sometimes the literal meaning of the poem isn't always what the poet is trying to express. Sometimes there are hidden messages or ideas that the author is trying to convey. I would say your most reasonable answer would be B) understand the meaning of words and their connotations to interpret the poet's figurative language, but all of the above could also very well be your answer.
