The federalists had a very lax view of the constitution and left parts up for interpretation over their rivals who believe in a strict interpretation and thought it was to be followed word for word and if it was not in the constitution it was unconstitutional and could not be interpreted

Federalists were lately responsible for writing the constitution. they believed in a strong federal government that had the authority to deal with a diff issues that may come up...hope that helps
