The artisans fulfilled the ideals of Confucianism, encouraging employment. Also, they produced beautiful items, which decorated the emperor’s palace and the Forbidden City.

They produced silk and porcelain goods that demanded high prices, thus increasing China’s trade and wealth.

And last but not least, artisans provided jobs to the Chinese peasants who could no longer work in agriculture because of the famine.

Why did general Lee want to invade the North
jolli1 [7]
General Robert E. Lee, the Confederate commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, invaded Union territory in an attempt to persuade the United States into a negotiated peace after a hoped-for decisive and damaging attack on Northern soil. It was also believed that a notable Southern victory in Union territory might have resulted in financial support and recognition of the Confederate cause from England or France. General Lee's first invasion of the North, which took place in Maryland during September of 1862, was repulsed by Union forces at the Battle of Antietam, but it was followed by a second invasion by Lee into Pennsylvania during the months of June and July in 1863.

Read the following excerpt from the story. Which term most accurately describes the writer’s tone.
Bess [88]

The correct answer is D. Solemn

Explanation

The tone is the name of the literary technique by which the writings convey to the reader their emotions and point of view regarding the topic that is being treated in the text. Also, a solemn tone refers to the tone that is intended to celebrate or highlight something in particular of text displayed as something extraordinary, with a script adorned with majestic words that make the reader as if they were facing something incredible, for example "he had an unbearable smell of the outdoors, the back side of his wings was strewn with parasites and his main feathers had been mistreated by terrestrial winds". According to the above, the text has a solemn tone because the author refers to this episode as a fantastic event. So, the correct answer is D. Solemn.
