Southern states voted Republican

For over a century the South was solidly Democrat. Eisenhower was the first presidential candidate to get overwhelming southern support moving many states from Democratic holds to Republican states. The South would continue to move to the Republican Party typically over the issue of civil rights and anti-liberal reform.

What was the Mandate of Heaven?
Juliette [100K]

Answer:

The Mandate of Heaven (Tianming), also known as Heaven's Mandate, was the divine source of authority and the right to rule of China's early kings and emperors. The ancient god or divine force known as Heaven or Sky had selected this particular individual to rule on its behalf on earth.

The Zhou created the Mandate of Heaven: the idea that there could be only one legitimate ruler of China at a time, and that this ruler had the blessing of the gods. They used this Mandate to justify their overthrow of the Shang, and their subsequent rule.

Explanation:

The Mandate either said or implied three major things. (1) The right to rule is granted by the gods. This gave the ruler religious power. (2) The right to rule is only granted if the ruler cares about his people more than he cares about himself.

How was the economic situation in the United States different than in European nations in the 1920s?
Irina18 [472]
The economy in the United States in the 1920's varied greatly from European countries. After WWl, Europe struggled to rebuild. Europe had taken the brunt of the attacks and went into a deep depression. The United States in contrast boomed. The economy was better than ever before. Since no attacks had happened on American soil, we were able to mass produce consumer goods, etc. People were buying on credit, investing in the stock market, and moving to the city. Life was good in America; not so good in Europe.
