The above-given sentence is a run on because it has two complete thought running together. For the sentence to be perfect there must be joining word that defines the second sentence to form a whole one sentence.

In general, when more than one complete sentences combined in a single sentence, they form a incomplete sentence. It is easier to correct a run-on a sentence by merely having them separately on connecting the parts to form one complete sentence.

you couldnt have the 2 sentences alone because it wouldn't make sense. Why do you need to raise money, you have to have the other sentence

And once when you look death in the face.According to the Wikipedia article, this is merely "in the style of ... Bashō." There are claims that this haiku is actually by Bashō (this Time.com article, for example). Is the haiku really by Bashō, or did Fleming pen it himself? Hope this helps..
