Is the current tendency by Americans to blame the poor for their condition similar to racist attitudes that existed in the past?
ddd [48]
Yes, the current American tendency to blame the poor for unfavorable conditions is similar to racist attitudes of the past. Groups in power, whether by class or race, have always tended to attribute their issues to outside parties such as the less-privileged strata of society. For example, Hitler blamed Germany’s post-WWI economic and political suffering on the domestic Jewish population, encouraging the entitled and intolerant “Aryan” Germans. In America today, political groups that are composed of the most-fortunate demographics of society tend to blame the poor for high taxes and invasive social programs. As always, xenophobia against impoverished immigrants prevails and continues to perpetuate the use of “scape-goats” for economic and societal issues brought by other factors.

AP US History question:
chubhunter [2.5K]
The leading argument against slavery during this time in the US was simply that it was immoral, and went against God's will. Another was that it violated the Constitution, and yet another was that it was unsustainable in the South.

which of the following describes a reason historians might want to use a primary source to study an event a) it does not need to
Setler79 [48]

The correct answer is C. It described the event as it was experienced at the time

Explanation:

A primary source is any source including documents, paintings, manuscripts, diaries or recordings that are created at the moment the event occurs. On the other hand, a secondary source is a document that is usually created to report, summarize, analyze a primary source. In comparison to secondary sources, primary sources are created when the even occurs and are closer to it, but usually more subjective. In the case of historians wanting to study an event a primary source has multiple advantages, one of this is that the document would reflect the way the event was experienced as the source is created at the same time the event occurs or short after this, and reported by someone who was part of the event, experience it or witness it in a closer way which provides a closer perspective of the event.
