2/4 = x/6

2/4 = 1/2 = 3/6

you find the least common denominator which will be 12

2/4 = 6/12

you multiply 4 x 3 to get 12 so you have to multiply 2 x 3 and get 6.

now if you divide  both numbers 6/12 by 2 then 6/12=1/2.

another way to look at this one is 2 is half of 4, so what is half of 6.

../.... = .../......

Reduce your fraction 2/4 down to 1/2, and then find the smallest common factor of 2 and 6 (which happens to be 6). Since you multiply 2 by 3, then you have to multiply your numerator by 3 also, giving you 3/6. Since your denominators match, it means you have found the answer.

9. Combine the radical expression, if possible.
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

we conclude that:

3\sqrt{125}+4\sqrt{20}=23\sqrt{5}

Hence, the last option i.e. 23\sqrt{5} is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the expression

3\sqrt{125}+4\sqrt{20}

Combining the radical expressions

3\sqrt{125}+4\sqrt{20}

let us first solve

3\sqrt{125}

=3\sqrt{5^3}

=3\sqrt{5^2\cdot \:5}

Apply radical rule:  \sqrt{ab}=\sqrt{a}\sqrt{b},\:\quad \:a\ge 0,\:b\ge 0

=3\sqrt{5^2}\sqrt{5}

Apply radical rule:   \sqrt{a^2}=a,\:\quad \:a\ge 0

=3\cdot \:5\sqrt{5}

=15\sqrt{5}

Thus,

3\sqrt{125}=15\sqrt{5}

similarly solving

4\sqrt{20}

=4\sqrt{2^2\cdot \:5}

Apply radical rule:  \sqrt{ab}=\sqrt{a}\sqrt{b},\:\quad \:a\ge 0,\:b\ge 0

=4\sqrt{2^2}\sqrt{5}

Apply radical rule:   \sqrt{a^2}=a,\:\quad \:a\ge 0

=4\cdot \:2\sqrt{5}

=8\sqrt{5}

Thus,

4\sqrt{20}=8\sqrt{5}

so we get

3\sqrt{125}=15\sqrt{5}

4\sqrt{20}=8\sqrt{5}

so the expression becomes

3\sqrt{125}+4\sqrt{20}=15\sqrt{5}+8\sqrt{5}        ∵ 3\sqrt{125}=15\sqrt{5} , 4\sqrt{20}=8\sqrt{5}

                        =23\sqrt{5}                   ∵ 15\sqrt{5}+8\sqrt{5}=23\sqrt{5}

Therefore, we conclude that:

3\sqrt{125}+4\sqrt{20}=23\sqrt{5}

Hence, the last option i.e. 23\sqrt{5} is correct.

Mark and John share the sum of $40 in ratio 2:3 how much does John get
lara [203]

Answer:

John gets 24 dollars

Step-by-step explanation:

Divide 40 into 5 because 2+3 equals 5.

Each "section" equals 8. Now, multiply that by 3(John's section)

You get 24.
