Pronouns are words that can function by themselves as noun phrases and refer either to the participants in the discourse (e.g., I, you ) or to someone or something mentioned elsewhere in the discourse (e.g., she, it, this ).
They are used to make sentences sound better, ex. instead of saying <em>Frank ran to the park to meet Franks' friends</em> you add in a pronoun to say <em>Frank ran to the park to meet his friends.</em>
First person pronouns include: I, me, my, mine, and myself. The plural versions are we, us, our, ours and ourselves.
Second person pronouns include: you, your, yours, and yourself. The plural versions are the same as the singular tense.
Third person pronouns include: he/she, him/her, his, hers, and himself/herself. The plural versions are they, them, their, theirs, and themselves.
