A function is where you input something and get out another thing
generally you are talking about one-to-one functions where for every input you get exactly one output
x is input and y is input
basicaly, x never repeats

2 ways to find a function
1. if on a graph, then it must pass the vertical line test whre if you draw a vertical line ANYWHERE on the graph, then it must pass through the graph of the equation no more than one times
2. if on a set then make sure that x doesn't repeat with a different y so if you had (2,3) and (2,4) then that is not a function

A is a function since passes vertical line test
B is a function since x doesn't repeat
C is NOT a function since x=3 has a y value of 5 and -2
D is NOT a function since you have the points (2,2) and (2,6)

so select A and B

basically just lok at the first number of each ordered pair (x,y) and make sure the first number never repeats with a different second number (x,y) and (x,z) is not function if z is not equal to y

so
1 is a function since the numbers never repat
2 is NOT a function since we have the points (2,3) and (2,5)
3 is NOT a function since we have th points (4,2) nd (4,8) and the points (6,3) and (6,6)
4 is NOT a function since we have the points (6,8) and (6,4)
so only first is function

ANSWERS
so the functions are
A and B for first quetsion

The first one is A,B,and D because for A a function on a graph rises from left to right.B because the input or x is not repeating so just remember that too many x's ain't right but more than one y or output is okay.D because each x is not repeating which is a no no in functions. The second question is the first one is a function and the rest no because the first one none of the x or repeating the other ones their x in their data set is repeating.

Which is a solution to (x − 2)(x + 10) = 13?
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
You'll need to expand <span>(x − 2)(x + 10) first,

</span><span>(x − 2)(x + 10) = 13
</span>x^2+8 x-20=13
x^2+8 x+16=49
(x+4)^2=49
x+4= \pm 7
x=3 , x=-11

How many radians is 340 degrees
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

About 5.93412 radians.

Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate it you would multiply 340 by π/180 because if graphed, 340 degrees is located in the first quadrant.

I hope this helps! :)

Pls help!!! Pls help!!! Pls help!!!
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

As x \to 2^-, f'(x)=1.

Step-by-step explanation:

See the attached image for the graph of <em>f</em> .

As x\to 2^-, the important part of the definition of <em>f</em> is the first part, valid for [0, 2). On the interval [1, 2),  [x] = 1, so f(x)=x\cdot 1=x, and the slope is 1.

Interestingly, on the interval [2, 3), f(x)=x(x-1)=x^2-x, making f'(x)=2x. As x \to 2^+, the value of <em>f </em>' approaches 4.  That accounts for the sudden change in direction at the point (2, 2) where the two pieces of the graph connect.

So although the pieces meet at (2, 2) -- <em>f</em> is continuous -- <em>f</em>  does not have a (two-sided) derivative at that point because the left-hand derivative and right-hand derivative have different values.  There's a "bend" in the graph.
