Dexter's motivation for being a caddy was simply to earn pocket money.

<u>Explanation:</u>

The story Winter Dreams is about a boy whose name is Dexter. Dexter has the dreams to have a perfect life and to achieve these dreams, he is ready to work very hard for it.

In the end of the story, he does get what he had asked for, a perfect life, he became rich and had a good social circle also but then he realized that nothing was left of that boy whom he used to be at one point of time in his childhood. He had lost the innocence.
