Which of following clast sizes would be most likely transported in very fast moving water? silt cobbles sand?
Vitek1552 [10]
I would say that in very fast moving water such as in a river, the cobble size could be transported because cobbles are 64-256mm so are quite big and in a quiescent stream won't move much but in a freshet say in a steep mountain stream they can be rolled along such as I observed in the local streams at a mining town during the Hurricane Fifi in Honduras in 1974.

21) Hurricanes will form under the right ingredients. Name two ingredients necessary for hurricane development.
Firlakuza [10]

Answer:

One of the necessary ingredients for a hurricane to form is the accumulation of thunderstorms that travel over the warm waters of the ocean.

The warm air of the storm and the air of the ocean surface combine and begin to rise. This generates low pressure on the surface of the ocean.

Another important ingredient are the winds that move in opposite directions, which cause the storm to begin to spin.

What is the role of mid the ocean ridge in the movement of lethosphiric plates
Hunter-Best [27]
The lithospheric plates move relative to each other. They are created at mid-oceanic ridges and destroyed at subduction zones. A mid-ocean ridge is an underwater mountain system formed by plate tectonics. It consists of various mountains linked in chains, typically having a valley known as a rift running along its spine. This type of oceanic mountain ridge is characteristic of what is known as an oceanic spreading center, which is responsible for seafloor spreading. The production of new seafloor results from mantle upwelling in response to plate spreading; this isentropic upwelling solid mantle material eventually exceeds the solidus and melts. The buoyant melt rises as magma at a linear weakness in the oceanic crust, and emerge as lava, creating new crust upon cooling. A mid-ocean ridge demarcates the boundary between two tectonic plates, and consequently is termed a divergent plate boundary.

(A) time-space compression

Explanation:

  • The concept of the time and space compression was given in the year 1989 by the American geographer David Harvey and it refers to the phenomenon of the relation between the space and the time. And this phenomenon often occurs as a result of the technological innovations and consist of the spatial and the temporal distances and overcomes the space barriers.
