A scientific theory is something believed to be true, thus already tested. When you make an observation you infer, and test your observations to see if they’re true. Please mark me brainliest if I helped :)

In your opinion, has globalization hurt<br> or helped the people of the world?
Andrej [43]

I looked to the National Bureau of Economic Research, who recently published Globalization and Poverty. Here’s what I found out:

Some studies show that globalization has been associated with rising inequality, because the poor do not always share in the gains from trade. An example of this is the coffee trade. Coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world, yet most of its growers only make 10% of what it eventually sells for. However, when farmers have access to credit, technical know-how, and social safety nets such as income support, trade can benefit the world’s poor.

The book argues that export growth and incoming foreign investment have proven to reduce poverty. But, at the same time, trade and foreign investment alone are not enough to alleviate poverty. Increasing access to education and credit, as well as improved infrastructure, are necessary in order to see real progress. Echoing that idea, Harrison concludes that globalization can benefit people living in extreme poverty, but only if the appropriate complementary policies and institutions are in place.

1. aquifers
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

I'll assume you have to match the name with their definitions.

1. aquifers

underground water sources

That's because of the presence of porous rocks that let water pass through them and reach an underground cavern that then acts as a tank.

2. delta

a broad, triangular-shaped land area at the mouth of a river

That's common especially in larger rivers that meet their destination point (usually the ocean).

3. oasis

a small fertile area in the desert, usually a place where water is close to the surface (plural - oases)

We all heard about oases in the desert, where human and animals alike gather to drink.

4. rain shadow

an area that receives less precipitation because of its location on the leeward side of a mountain

That's common in high mountains region where the mountains are so high they block the passage of clouds to the other side.

Where along the 48 states is plate collision currently taking place?
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

Sometimes an entire ocean closes as tectonic plates converge, causing blocks of thick continental crust to collide. A collisional mountain range forms as the crust is compressed, crumpled, and thickened even more. The effect is like a swimmer putting a beach ball under his or her belly—the swimmer will rise up considerably out of the water. The highest mountains on Earth today, the Himalayas, are so high because the full thickness of the Indian subcontinent is shoving beneath Asia.

The Appalachian Mountains formed during a collision of continents 500 to 300 million years ago. In their prime they probably had peaks as high as those in the modern zone of continental collision stretching from the Himalayas in Asia to the Alps in Europe. But over the past 300 million years, the Appalachians have eroded to more modest heights.
