During the age of absolutism, European rulers were trying to gain absolute power/control over the people they were ruling. This is a period of tyranny and we can comfortably say dictatorship, when the rulers imposed themselves as the alpha and omega in their respective countries and were doing whatever they wanted without being stopped by anyone. usually because of fear of their brutal methods. In general, people were suffering heavily and were submitted to almost daily torture, both physical and psychological.
