The Sedition Act of 1918 (Pub.L. 65–150, 40 Stat. 553, enacted May 16, 1918) was an Act of the United States Congress that extended the Espionage Act of 1917 to cover a broader range of offenses, notably speech and the expression of opinion that cast the government or the war effort in a negative light or interfered with the sale of government bonds.

It forbade the use of "disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language" about the United States government, its flag, or its armed forces or that caused others to view the American government or its institutions with contempt. Those convicted under the act generally received sentences of imprisonment for five to 20 years. The act also allowed the Postmaster General to refuse to deliver mail that met those same standards for punishable speech or opinion. It applied only to times "when the United States is in war." The U.S. was in a declared state of war at the time of passage, the First World War. The law was repealed on December 13, 1920.

Though the legislation enacted in 1918 is commonly called the Sedition Act, it was actually a set of amendments to the Espionage Act. Therefore, many studies of the Espionage Act and the Sedition Act find it difficult to report on the two "acts" separately. For example, one historian reports that "some fifteen hundred prosecutions were carried out under the Espionage and Sedition Acts, resulting in more than a thousand convictions."Court decisions do not use the shorthand term Sedition Act, but the correct legal term for the law, the Espionage Act, whether as originally enacted or as amended in 1918.

The Sedition Act of 1918 constituted an Act of the United States Congress that extended the Espionage Act of 1917 to deal with a wider range of offenses, notably speech and the expression of opinion that cast the government or the war effort in a negative sense or interfered with the sale of government bonds.

The Sediction Act of 1918 was designed to protect America’s participation in World War I.

1. ______ were sent to Kansas to tamper with the voting process
Rama09 [41]

The correct answer to number 1 is New Englanders.

Out of all the options listed, the only people who had the ability to vote were white adult males. This shows that the other 3 choices are incorrect. Along with this, the New Englanders went to tamper with the voting in hopes of making Kansas a free state. This would give free states more political power in the US Congress.

The correct answer to number two is False.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act actually caused more problems than it solved, as violence broke out between people for slavery and people against slavery. This era of fighting in the Kansas territory became known as "Bleeding Kansas."

Why would parent allow their children to work in such dangerous conditions
lesantik [10]

Answer:

A parent would allow their child to work in dangerous conditions if they needed the child's payment money to help keep the family afloat and be able to provide for their families.

Explanation:

It makes sense because in third world countries companies such as Nike were using child labor to make their products and they only get payed about an $1 a day. In order to live adequately you need at least $3 a day, so they were using the kids to help with financial problems.

What caused the Western Roman Empire to fall? There was no single cause, and no sudden fall. Rome’s decline took place over many
Aleksandr-060686 [28]
Making Christianity as the main religion of Rome was one of the factors that led to the downfall of the empire. The emperor was regarded as one of the gods before Christianity came then the aftermath of the change of religion made the emperor not credible to his own people. Rome was also headed by incompetent leaders both in the military and government. Then the divided empire was overthrown by barbaric tribes.
