That's a big, heavy question -- a bit more detailed than the brief answers we tend to share here in the Brainly responses. You'll need to do your own essay writing, but I can give you a list of at some motives to look for. Europeans and Americans pursued imperial interests in Africa and Asia with these sorts of motives in mind. For convenience, I'll label each one with a word starting with C. (There could be other words, but I'll make it consistent this way.)
1. Commercial motives: They wanted trade, economic advantage, enrichment of their home countries, etc.
2. Cultural motives: The Europeans and Americans tended to believe themselves culturally superior to the "less civilized" or "less developed" nations where they sought to extend their control and influence.
3. Curiosity motives: Sometimes it was adventurism pure and simple, other times for the sake of finding territories to claim. (That ties back to commercial motives and to the next item listed also.)
4. Competitive motives: The European nations were competing mightily with one another for power and prestige, and overseas empires were part of that competition.
5. Conversion motives: There were large doses of religion attached to the imperial program, and Christian missionaries accompanied the expansion of European power.

zalisa [80]

As Native Americans faced devastating diseases, war and dislocation, the strategy they used to survive was Merging with other tribes.

How did Native Americans attempt to survive?

After Native Americans met with Europeans, they faced war, disease, and dislocation. This led to their populations being so devastated that around 90% were lost. They knew that they had to find a way to survive.

One method of survival that was adopted was merging with other tribes. This bolstered the numbers of single tribes and allowed to them better acquire resources and resist the Europeans.

Options for this question are:

 • - Adding captive colonists as tribal members to increase their numbers
 • - Converting to Christianity
 • - Poisoning food supplies of colonists encroaching on tribal lands
 • - Merging with other tribes
 • - Embracing the reservation system

"in states without a lieutenant governor, who is usually next in succession to the governor's office?"
stiks02 [169]
The correct answer is the leader of the state senate.

They are people who are basically second in command to the official governor. It's something like a vice president is to a president. If the governor dies then the lieutenant governor takes their position, and if the lieutenant governor dies, then the leader of the senate for that state takes it. This is common and is found in almost all states.
