That's a big, heavy question -- a bit more detailed than the brief answers we tend to share here in the Brainly responses.  You'll need to do your own essay writing, but I can give you a list of at some motives to look for.  Europeans and Americans pursued imperial interests in Africa and Asia with these sorts of motives in mind.  For convenience, I'll label each one with a word starting with C.  (There could be other words, but I'll make it consistent this way.)
1.  Commercial motives:  They wanted trade, economic advantage, enrichment of their home countries, etc.
2.  Cultural motives:  The Europeans and Americans tended to believe themselves culturally superior to the "less civilized" or "less developed" nations where they sought to extend their control and influence.
3.  Curiosity motives:  Sometimes it was adventurism pure and simple, other times for the sake of finding territories to claim.  (That ties back to commercial motives and to the next item listed also.)
4.  Competitive motives:  The European nations were competing mightily with one another for power and prestige, and overseas empires were part of that competition.
5.  Conversion motives:  There were large doses of religion attached to the imperial program, and Christian missionaries accompanied the expansion of European power.

Which of the following describes a motivation for European countries establishing empires in the 19th century
DaniilM [7]
Europeans invaded Africa with the purpose of instilling Christianity into natives as well as introducing western ideas in education, medicine, hygiene, and monogamous marriage. The colonization of Africa was also of commercial interest. Africa provided European manufacturers with cheap labor, raw materials, and a ready market to purchase their products
