y-5= \frac{-13}{6(x-1)}

Refine y-5 = -  \frac{13}{6(x-1)}

Expand - \frac{13}{6(x-1)}  = -  \frac{13}{6x-6}

Multiply both sides by 6 x - 6

(6x-6)y -(6x-6)5 = - (6x-6)\frac{13}{6x-6}

Refine:

(6x-6)y - (6x-6)5 = 13

6xy - 6y - 30 x + 30 = - 13

6xy - 6y -30x + 30 + 30 x = -13+30x

6xy - 6y + 30 = -13+30x

6xy - 6y +30-30 = - 13 + 30 x -30

6xy - 6y = 30 x - 43

take out y :

y(6x-6) = 30 x - 43

Divide both sides by 6x - 6 :

\frac{y(6x-6)}{6x-6} = \frac{30x-43}{6x-6}

y =  \frac{30x-43}{6x-6}

hope this helps!

Suppose a railroad rail is 6 kilometers and it expands on a hot day by 10 centimeters in length. Approximately how many meters w
Anvisha [2.4K]
<span>Given that the railroad rail is 6 kilometers before expansion.

When the railroad expands, it makes an isosceles triangle at the center of the rail.

The base of the triangle is 6 kilometers while each leg of the triangle is given by (6 + 10/100,000) / 2 = 6.0001 / 2 = 3.00005 kilometers.
[recall that 100,000 centimeters gives 1 kilometers, thus 10 centimetres gives 10/100,000 kilometers]

Taking one half of the isoceles triangle, we have a right triangle with one of the leg as 6 / 2 = 3 kilometers and the hypothenus = 3.00005 kilometers.

Thus, using the Pythagoras theorem, we find the other leg (height) of the right triangle as follows.

Let the other leg of the right triangle be h, then
3^{2} + h^{2} = 3.00005^{2}  \\  \\ \Rightarrow h^2=3.00005^{2}-3^2 \\  \\ =9.0003000025-9=0.0003000025 \\  \\ \Rightarrow h= \sqrt{0.0003000025} =0.01732058

Thus, the center of the rail will rise 0.01732058 kilometers above the ground.

But, there are 1,000 meters in 1 kilometers, therefore, </span><span><span>the center of the rail will rise 0.01732058 x 1,000 = 17.32 meters above the ground.</span></span>

Find the slope-intercept form of an equation of the line perpendicular to the
anyanavicka [17]

Answer: y=-3x+7

Step-by-step explanation: The slope of a line that is perpendicular will always be the opposite ( change positive to negative) and the inverse. Since 1/3 is the slope we would change it to negative (-1/3) and flip it. The slope of the new line is -3. Your new equation is y=-3x+b. Now, plug in 4 for x and -5 for y. -5=-3(4)+b. B=7.

If anyone knows this I will give them brainiest
statuscvo [17]

Answer:

x = 12

m(QS) = 52°

m(PD) = 152°

Step-by-step explanation:

Recall: Angle formed by two secants outside a circle = ½(the difference of the intercepted arcs)

Thus:

m<R = ½[m(PD) - m(QS)]

50° = ½[(12x + 8) - (4x + 4)] => substitution

Solve for x

Multiply both sides by 2

2*50 = (12x + 8) - (4x + 4)

100 = (12x + 8) - (4x + 4)

100 = 12x + 8 - 4x - 4 (distributive property)

Add like terms

100 = 8x + 4

100 - 4 = 8x

96 = 8x

96/8 = x

12 = x

x = 12

✔️m(QS) = 4x + 4 = 4(12) + 4 = 52°

✔️m(PD) = 12x + 8 = 12(12) + 8 = 152°
