Answer:

Jacques Cartier was a french explorer who is considered to be the discoverer of Canada. He was born in village of Saint-Malo in duchy of Brittney. He came from a family of Mariners. He went on three voyages, First Voyage (1534), Second Voyage (1535-1536), Third voyage(1541-1542). He set sail to discover Asia in 1534 but instead of Asia he reached Newfoundland, there he received furs from the Micmac Indians. He also got to know about a river(St. Lawrence river) which was in the east, he thought the river to be a passage to Asia. Instead of sailing the Saint Lawrence river, he entered in the Bay of Gaspe and landed in Quebec. There he planted 30-foot cross to mark and claim the territory for France.

What did Arthur Zimmerman propose to Mexico if they attacked the United States?
Sonja [21]

The correct answer is: "Mexico would get Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico"

Arthur Zimmerman (1864-1940) was the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the German Empire during 1916 and 17. He is mostly known because of the secret communication he sent to Mexico during WWI, in January of 1917, called the Zimmerman Telegram.

He aimed to propose and alliance between Germany and Mexico, as a measure of prevention in case the United States decided to join the war. The proposal offered to Mexico that they would recover their former territories of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.

The communication was intercepted by the British intelligence bodies, and caused the opposite effects to the desired ones. It enraged the US, that ended up declaring the war to Germany in April 1917.
