After Pip discovers that his benefactor is Magwitch, he decides to visit Jaggers to ask for advice. Jaggers in turn confesses that he was aware of the fact that Miss Havisham is not Pip's beneficiary, and that Magwitch has organized everything. Nevertheless, Jaggers also advises Pip not to say anything incriminating to the police. Finally, he states that his part in the business is over, and that he will forward all accounts and balances due.
