Academic writers present information primarily for other academics, and to that extent they are not particularly interested in style

Most academic writing has to be peer judged, and fit into a particular format for publishing

Most academic writing is either voluntary or poorly paid

Most academic writing is dreadfully written

Technical journalists translate academic writing for the layman, so are concerned about style. Their market dictates what their style is

Most Technical journalists are paid salaries, so the size of their market is not a concern to them

Creative writers are totally concerned with their markets as they are paid on sales

Creative writers use agents, and are concerned with getting reviews and distribution

Creative writers are not peer judged, and the only constraints on their work is the House style of the publisher

They are concerned with different platforms such as print, self-publishing, eBooks, Blogs, illustrations, copyrights, translations, serializing, and any merchandising rights

In regards to the question

The similarities in creative and academic writing are primarily in the legal aspects of protecting the copyright of the published works

When analyzing the setting, the reader should consider:
adelina 88 [10]
There are three correct answers here:
1. The time of day during which the story takes place
2. The city in which the story takes place
3. The atmosphere or mood of the place.

Characters exist in the setting but aren't part of it in the same way we live on Earth but aren't part of the Earth's composition.

What are prepositions?
den301095 [7]
Prepositions describe the relationship between words in a sentence. They usually come before a noun or pronoun and show their relationship through a time, place, or direction.

Examples of prepositions:
The dog lays beside the sofa. ⇒ Beside is a preposition of place.
After a few weeks, the flower began to bloom. ⇒ After is a preposition of time.
The woman slowly walked away from the mad dog. ⇒ Away from is a preposition of direction.

Dear companion of our youth when we were immortal 1
Mama L [17]

Hello. This question is incomplete. The full question is:

Stanza one is one long sentence and contains many instances of enjambment. What is the effect of this on the rhythm? How does this contribute to the meaning of the poem?

Dear companion of our youth when we were immortal 1

and our happy shouts swung up through the gumtrees,

when we raced go-carts in order to destroy our knees,

when there were always eight of us at home for tea

and eight of us learning to count and read 5

and eight of us crammed into the Fiat for Mass

and eight of us slashing through the long dry grass

and four of you dive-bombing four of us

and all of us playing ‘Red rover, red rover, come over!’

Answer:

Enjambment slows down the pace as if it were being interrupted and paused briefly. This contributes to the meaning of the poem because it emphasizes the most important terms within the poem, constructing the phrases in such a way that these terms stand out.

Explanation:

The verse of the poem, shown above, presents several enjambement, which is a literary resource, widely used in poetry, which aims to end a verse of the poem in disagreement with the syntax that that verse should have, that is, the verse ends in disagreement with what the grammar establishes for the construction of the sentence. When a poet does this, it means that he is trying to highlight terms that would not be highlighted with grammatically correct writing.

In the poem above, we can see an example of this in the verses "Dear companion of our youth when we were immortal / and our happy shouts swung up through the gumtrees" where the author makes two lines of a sentence that should be a single line. The author did this to highlight the "happy shouts" that would not be highlighted if written with the correct syntax.
