What is the value of x
Firlakuza [10]
Since this is a square you can set 3x+20=5x then you can solve for x.
Subtract 3x from both sides:
3x-3x+20=5x-3x
20=2x
Divide both sides by 2
20/2=2x/2
10=x

Hope this helps.

Why do earth quakes often happen near volcanic regions
Kaylis [27]

Answer:

Most earthquakes directly beneath a volcano are caused by the movement of magma. The magma exerts pressure on the rocks until it cracks the rock. Then the magma squirts into the crack and starts building pressure again. Every time the rock cracks it makes a small earthquake.

Why are the states of California, Oregon, and Washington mild and rainy?
Alex73 [517]

There's few reasons why these three states have mild and rainy climate, most important of which are:

- Pacific trade winds; the Pacific trade winds are bringing fronts of the Pacific that are moving eastwards towards the western part of the USA. These winds are warm and wet and they bring in lot of precipitation with them.

- Mountain ranges; the mountain ranges that are stretching through these three states and that lift up the terrain significantly east from the coast are crucial because they stop the Pacific trade winds from going further inland and disperse, so they stop their movement and give them the opportunity to accumulate more and more clouds and thus higher precipitation.

- Ocean currents; the dominant ocean currents along the shores of these states are cold ocean currents both from the south and the north, so the colder water manages to affect the coastal regions and drop their temperature by few degrees.

Economic determinant of land used
kupik [55]

Two reduced-form, econometric models of developed land area were estimated with the data from the USDA’'s National Resource Inventory and numerous other sources for 49 states during 1982-1997. In these linear and semi-quadratic fixed-effects models, developed land area is smaller where the average real gas price or conservation- reserve-program payment per enrolled acre during the previous five years is higher. This area also decreases as the average share of lower-house Democrats or real per-capita agricultural and mining production during the previous five years grows. Increases in a state’'s average population and average annual growth rate of real non-agricultural and non-mining output per capita during the previous five years induce land development. Policies that increase real CRP payments per enrolled acre, improve the real returns to agriculture and mining, reduce population growth, or raise real gasoline prices are likely to reduce land development.
