If the line through (- 2,4)and (5, d)is perpendicular to the graph of y = 3x + 4.Find the value of d.
kumpel [21]

Answer:

d =  \frac{5}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

In the slope- intercept form (y= mx +c), the coefficient of x is the slope of the graph.

y= 3x +4

Slope of given line= 3

\boxed{slope =  \frac{y1 - y2}{x1 - x2} }

The product of the slopes of perpendicular lines is -1.

(3)[ \frac{d - 4}{5 - ( - 2)} ] =  - 1

Divide both sides by 3:

\frac{d - 4}{5 + 2}  =  \frac{ - 1}{3}

\frac{d - 4}{7}  =  \frac{ - 1}{3}

Cross multiply:

3(d -4)= -1(7)

Expand:

3d -12= -7

Add 12 on both sides:

3d= 12 -7

3d= 5

Divide both sides by 3:

d =  \frac{5}{3}

I'm so confused. This question seems contradicting, and need an explanation.
Lerok [7]

Answer:

1/2 or 0.5 dollars per kg of apples

The first thing to do is to find out how much a kg of apples sells for, since the question is only asking for the selling amount of a single kg. Nothing else. Each trip gets 300 dollars and delivers fifty packs. So each Pack, or P = 300/50, or P = 6 dollars

And each pack contains 12 kg of apples, so if P = 6 dollars and P = 12 kg of apples, then 6 dollars = 12 kg of apples

then 1 kg apples = 6/12, or 1/2.

So a single Kg of apples cost 0.5 dollars

In the square ABCD, AE = 3x + 5 and BD = 10x + 2. What is the length of line AC?
zubka84 [21]
BD = 2 AE
10 x + 2 = 2 * ( 3 x + 5 )
10 x + 2 = 6 x + 10
10 x - 6 x = 10 - 2
4 x = 8
x = 8 : 4
x = 2
And the line AC is equal to BD.
AC = 10 * 2 + 2 = 20 + 2 = 22

Mr. Wilson's desk drawer contains 4 black, 3 blue, and 3 red pens. If he selects one pen a random, what is the probability that
gtnhenbr [62]
<h3>Answer:  3/5</h3>

Work Shown:

3 blue + 3 red = 6 pens that are either blue or red

4 black + 3 blue + 3 red = 10 pens total

6/10 = 3/5 is the probability of selecting either blue or red

3/5 = 0.60 = 60%
