I think if it is not solar energy it would be wind energy. 
Solar energy had become a hit since the shift of some electrical appliances had adapted itself to solar energy using low energy consumption.  There are already discoveries that used this method as an alternative source of energy in houses and buildings. 
On the other hand, the wind is also a good alternative source of energy. This has been used by in far places.
