Bring the variables to the left side of the equation:
x + 2y = 10
-(x/2) + y = 3

Multiply the second equation by 2 to get rid of the fraction:
x + 2y = 10
-x + 2y = 6

Eliminate the y’s to isolate x via elimination:
x + 2y = 10
- -x + 2y = 6
———————
2x = 4
x = 2

Plug in the value for x into the first equation:
2y + 2 = 10
2y = 8
y = 4

x = 2
y = 4

Points A,B, and C are collinear. Points M and N are the midpoints of segments AB and AC. Prove that BC = 2MN
irinina [24]
Look at the picture.

1)|AM| = |MB| = x
|AN| = |NC| = y
|BC| = 2y - 2x = 2(y - x)
|MN| = y - x
Therefore |BC| = 2|MN|
2)|AM| = |MB| = x
|AN| = |NC| = y

|BC| = 2y - 2x = 2(y - x)
|MN| = y - x
Therefore |BC| = 2|MN|

Which value of c would make the following express completely factored? 8x+cy
Artist 52 [7]
The answer is B, 7.

\sf 8x+2y

We can factor a 2 out of this: \sf 2(4x+y)

\boxed{\sf 8x+7y}

We can't factor anything.

\sf 8x+12y

We can factor a 4 out of this: \sf 4(2x+3y)

\sf 8x+16y

We can factor an 8 out of this: \sf 8(x+2y)

So your answer is B, 7.

Simplify: −√16x^2 , when x<0
Savatey [412]

Answer:

-4|x|

Step-by-step explanation:

To simplify :

-\sqrt{16x^2} , when x

In order to simplify the given expression we will take the square root of the term inside the root.

The term in the square root are perfect squares (square of an integer), so, we can write them in square of the numbers.

⇒ -\sqrt{(\pm4x)^2}   [As (\pm4x)^2=16x^2]

On taking square root the square gets removed. So, we have,

⇒ -(\pm4x)

⇒ -4|x|

Since x, so the value would be negative.

So, simplified answer is

-4|x|  (Answer)
